| Peltor Tactical Ear Muff Accessories |
Here are parts to equip your Peltor electronic muffs to work with most existing communications radios. In general, you will need the following components:
- An appropriate Peltor Headset with a
J22 jack (Peltor's unique two-prong plug) on one or both ear cups. Models that
will work include the ComTac/SwatTac (both standard and II models), Alert,
Tactical 7S, and Tactical Pro headsets. Some additional models may be
adaptable as well. Please ask if you are not sure.
- An M21 Flexi-Boom Mic or the MT70
Rigid Boom Mic. (For some models you will also need the A44 mounting post to
allow you to mount the mic.)
- An FL6AB (or FL6AC) Downlead. This
connects your boom mic to the ear cup and your PTT cable to your existing
radio.
- A push-to-talk (PTT) cable that will
fit your radio and plug into the FL6AB downlead. There are almost as many PTT
cables as there are brands of radio because they must plug into the radio
itself, which usually requires a special adapter.
A fully rigged tactical communications headset will run between $500-700, but nothing else out there even comes close to the durability, reliability and comfort of the Peltor brand. This is the equipment used by the US Armed Forces.
