GeniSys Gen-X solid custom ear plugs are the ideal solution for hearing protection in high noise environments such as industrial workplaces and shooting ranges, as well as times when you just need some silence as when meditating, traveling on public transportation, or kicking back on your balcony in the noisy city. Gen-X solid custom earplugs are also an excellent choice for sleeping with a loud snoring partner, as well as for water protection when showering, bathing, or swimming.
We use a medium soft (40 shore) medical grade silicone material that provides a comfortable fit and ambient noise reduction as high as NRR 28.

Gen-X solid custom earplugs are made from physical impressions you either make at home using our optional DIY impression kit, or have made by a local audiologist. Once we receive your impressions, our lab pros will scan your impressions and use the scans in our advanced earmold manufacturing process to produce the perfect custom fitted earplugs just for you. We then archive your ear impression scans for ten years, which means for any future orders of GeniSys custom earplugs or earphones, you will not need to make impressions again.
Gen-X solid custom earplugs are available with an optional pop cord, which can easily be removed when not needed. Having earplugs connected by a cord is often desirable to help prevent loss of a plug when removed temporarily to enable conversation. The cord also helps keep plugs together when stored.
General Noise Protection
Choose any style, color, any enhancement, and any coating, and add the removeable pop cord to help keep your earplugs from getting lost. These can also be used for sleeping, swimming, motorcycling, or shooting, though these other uses may benefit from some optimization of options (see our suggestions below.) For extremely loud environments, a fuller earmold will give you a few more dB of noise protection, so a full or half ear style is suggested for general noise protection.
Any style of solid custom earplug will usually give better noise protection than will generic foam earplugs because the custom plugs fit perfectly every time, while the foam ear plugs often do not. That alone makes Genisys Gen-X solid custom earplugs a great option to one-size-fits-all generic earplugs. Because they perform better and they last for years, even with daily use, Gen-X earplugs are an economic alternative to disposable earplugs of all kinds, and because they are so much more comfortable, Gen-X earplugs are more likely to actually get used when needed. Sleeping
Choose the quarter ear shelled out style, any color, any enhancement, and any coating. These earplugs will also double as a water protection earplug, so a removeable pop cord is also advised if you plan to use for swimming. If you prefer, we offer a canal only style that has even less material in the outer ear making them more comfortably for side sleepers, however the canal only earplugs can be a little more difficult to orient, they are not compatible with the pop cord, and they must be fitted with a removal filament, which some find irritating.
Swimming/Showering
Choose full ear, half ear, or quarter ear shelled out style, any color, any enhancement, and any coating. We also advise the removeable pop cord which can help prevent loss when you take them out of your ears by the pool to have a conversation. These can also be used for general noise protection, and, if you choose the quarter ear style, for sleeping, and motorcycling.
Motorcycling
Choose the quarter ear shelled out style, any color, any enhancement, and any coating. These can also be used for sleeping, swimming, and general noise protection, but for the best motorcycling earplugs we do suggest the GeniSys Gen-Y Filtered earplugs which give you better ambient hearing for situational awareness, along with variable noise protection.
Shooting
Choose the full or half shell style, any color, any enhancement, and any coating. These Gen-X solid ear plugs will give you maximum noise protection, which is great for indoor shooting and high powered weapon use. For range shooting where you need to hear commands from a range officer, and hunting, where you need to be able to hear what is going on around, you will instead, need a filtered earplug such as GeniSys Gen-Y Filtered earplugs.
