I have used Howard Leight and 3M foam ear plugs before and...

I have used Howard Leight and 3M foam ear plugs before and because they were so close to each other i assumed all foam earplugs are the same ... BIG MISTAKE ! the 3M / EAR plugs are large and provide very tight seal blocking out noise completely. these Mack's plugs are much smaller and even when fully expanded merely rest in your ear canal instead of truly PLUGGING it. now the comfort is amazing - but what good is comfortable ear plug if it doesn't block the noise ? in me estimate it provides about 10 db of noise attenuation versus 30 db i get from 3M / EAR. however, i already have Etymotic Research Musicians Earplugs for listening to music and they are AMAZING. long story short - after trying the Blackout plugs for 5 minutes i gave them to my parents. they are USELESS to me. if you're looking for an earplug to use at a night club i suggest you get Etymotic Research of the new low profile type. they sound incredible and look good. and if you want serious protection from noise get 3M / EAR.

Unfortunately, because of the composition of the earplugs, they do not block as much sound as two other brands I've tried. Your ears may vary.
