3M 8515 Welding Respirator Details
The 3M 8515 is a highly economical disposable respirator for welding. The 8515 N95 provides at least 95% filtration efficiency against non-oil based particulate, and was designed to provide protection against dust, non-volatile liquid particles, and welding fumes.
The price isn't the only thing about the 3M 8515 that will have you breathing easy. These respirators are fitted with 3M Cool Flow™ Valves, which help keep the masks an average of 7.5°F cooler than unvented masks. The 8515 also features 3M's advanced electrostatic filter media, which is significantly easier to breathe through than other respirator materials. The result is a disposable respirator that stays cool and offers low breathing resistance, keeping the wearer more comfortable.
Further enhancing comfort, 3M 8515 respirators have M-noseclips, which allow workers to customize their fit for better face sealing and more effective respiratory safety. The noseclips also prevent glasses or other protective eyewear from fogging. The inner materials of the mask are soft and gentle on the skin. And the headband straps are braided for a comfortable, secure fit.
The 3M 8515 is heat-resistant and recommended for welding, metal pouring, torch cutting, soldering, and brazing. Also suitable for metal repair, foundry operations, pharmaceutical manufacturing, agricultural production, mineral processing, textile operations, airborne biological particles, petrochemical manufacturing, dry chemical handling, bagging, sweeping, sanding, grinding, and other dusty applications. Note: not for use with oil based particulate.

About Efficiency
Filter efficiency shows how much filter leakage can be accepted. Higher efficiency means less leakage.
95%, 99%, and 99.97% are the most common filter efficiency ratings.
Used in particulate environments free of oil aerosols. N-series filters cannot be used if oil particles are present.
Used for oil and non-oil particles with time use limitations specified by NIOSH. If oil particles (e.g., lubricants, cutting fluids, glycerine) are present, use an R- or P-series filter.
Used for oil and non-oil particples with time use limitations specified by manufacturer. If oil particles are present and the filter is to be used for more than one work shift, use only a P-series filter.
