3M 8233 Particulate Respirator Details
The 3M 8233 N100 provides NIOSH's highest rated filtration efficiency (99.97%) against non-oil based particulate. This makes these respirators an excellent choice for lead abatement, pharmaceutical manufacturing, welding, and working around substance specific regulated particles including lead, cadmium, and arsenic. (Not for use with asbestos exposures.) Lined with soft inner material, the mask facilitates an excellent faceseal, while the cup design makes the mask both spacious to wear and more durable to use. 3M's Cool Flow® valve vents away exhaled heat far better than an unvalved respirator. Together with this exhalation valve, the 3M's electrostatic microfiber filter media helps keep the mask cool and comfortable to wear for longer periods of time, even in hot and humid conditions. And the longer a disposable respirator lasts, the more money it saves.
The 3M 8233 is as comfortable as it is effective. The cup design is spacious. The face seal is soft. The noseclip is customizable and prevents eyewear from fogging. The straps are fully adjustable. The masks are disposable and therefore completely maintenance free. The result is a respirator mask workers can appreciate wearing.
The 3M 8233 is recommended for foundry operations, welding, grinding, petrochemical manufacturing, and mineral processing. Excellent for manufacturing, marine, transporation, oil and gas, and mining industries. Note: not for use with oil-based particulate.

About Efficiency
Filter efficiency shows how much filter leakage can be accepted. Higher efficiency means less leakage.
95%, 99%, and 99.97% are the most common filter efficiency ratings.
Used in particulate environments free of oil aerosols. N-series filters cannot be used if oil particles are present.
Used for oil and non-oil particles with time use limitations specified by NIOSH. If oil particles (e.g., lubricants, cutting fluids, glycerine) are present, use an R- or P-series filter.
Used for oil and non-oil particples with time use limitations specified by manufacturer. If oil particles are present and the filter is to be used for more than one work shift, use only a P-series filter.
