3M 8211 Particulate Respirator Details
The 3M 8211 provides 95% or better filtration efficiency against non-oil based particles. This disposable respirator features a cup shaped design that is both more spacious for the wearer and more durable than other mask designs. The 3M 8211 is fitted with 3M's Cool Flow™ Valve, which makes breathing easier and effectively vents exhaled heat away from the face. Respirators with the 3M Cool Flow™ valve stay an average of 7.5°F cooler than unvalved respirators, making this mask excellent for extended wear in hot and dusty conditions. Combined with 3M's advanced electrostatically charged microfiber filter media, the 8211 provides excellent breathability and excellent cooling.
The 3M 8211 features a foam faceseal which, along with the soft inner material, provides a very comfortable fit. An adustable M-noseclip allows for customization of this fit, creating a better seal and preventing protective eyewear from fogging. The braided headband is soft and smooth, preventing hair-pulling, tugging, and pinching from the straps.
The 3M 8211 is recommended for foundry operations, assembly and mechanical, sanding, pharmaceutical manufacturing, textile operations, airborne biological particles, petrochemical manufacturing, grinding, dry chemcial handling, cleaning, mineral processing, agricultural production, bagging, and other hot and dusty applications. Also helps to limit exposure to some airborne biological particles (including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Bacillus anthracis, and mold) but does not completely eliminate the risk of contracting disease or illness. Note: not for use with oil-based particulate.

About Efficiency
Filter efficiency shows how much filter leakage can be accepted. Higher efficiency means less leakage.
95%, 99%, and 99.97% are the most common filter efficiency ratings.
Used in particulate environments free of oil aerosols. N-series filters cannot be used if oil particles are present.
Used for oil and non-oil particles with time use limitations specified by NIOSH. If oil particles (e.g., lubricants, cutting fluids, glycerine) are present, use an R- or P-series filter.
Used for oil and non-oil particples with time use limitations specified by manufacturer. If oil particles are present and the filter is to be used for more than one work shift, use only a P-series filter.
